There are so many different genres of music, from rap, to pop, to country. The lyrics sung in different types of songs can actually affect the way a youth’s mind works and change the way they talk to people. The tune of certain songs can send different thoughts which trigger different emotions.

Jacob Jolij, researcher from the University of Groningen, recently found music genres effect “visual perception in an extraordinary way”. He discovered a way the brain and music interact with each other. Jolij conducted an experiment where participants would wear headphones and listen to different songs he played. Participants were to show happy and sad emoticons depending on how the music made them feel. These findings would help determine how humans process their environment and how the receive impressions.

Music does not only affect your mood, but it can also affect how people view the world around them. When listening to happy or sad music, this can determine how a person feels throughout the day, for example, if they wake up and listen to happy music for about thirty minutes to an hour, eighty percent of the time they will feel good through the day. Listening to sad songs when could make someone feel gloomy throughout their day. This is not proven for everybody, but an amount of people are affected during the day depending what they listen to throughout their morning.

Music does not affect everyone, but it affects about eighty percent of the younger people population. Different genres are liked by many people. Listen to anything in your preference if you are not affected behaviorally. Every type of music is different and unique for so many different reasons, but there are also the downsides to certain songs.
