The National League West has been a crazy division for most of this MLB season. The Arizona Diamondbacks started the season off really well, and looked like they would be champions of the NL West. A lot has changed since then, and the standings in the NL West are very close. Now, there are three teams that are currently in close contention for the postseason in that division.

The Los Angeles Dodgers, who had a very poor start to the year, have picked it up and they are now in first place in the NL West by a half a game. The Colorado Rockies also had a pretty rough start, but they currently hold second place in the division by a half a game. The Rockies are currently playing the Dodgers in a three-game series. The Dodgers beat the Rockies by six in the first game of the series to take first place. The next two games of the series will determine whether the Rockies take a one and a half game lead or if the Dodgers will take a two and a half game lead if one of those teams wins the rest of the games in the series. As of right now, the Diamondbacks are five games behind the Dodgers. The Diamondbacks have been struggling recently; they have had two wins and eight losses in their past ten games. If the Diamondbacks wants to make it to the playoffs this year, they are going to have to start winning more games now, and the Dodgers and Rockies are going to need to lose a lot of games.

Whichever team finishes at first place in the division is guaranteed a playoff spot. One of these teams that finishes in second could potentially make the playoffs depending on how well other NL Wild Card contenders play. Whichever direction this crazy division goes, it is definitely going to be very fun to watch.
