Sunset League Championship Finals for Cross Country teams in Orange County took place on October 26 at Central Park in Huntington Beach. It was a good, but rough day for runners. Frosh/Soph runners for both boys and girls placed first as well as the boys JV and boys varsity. JV girls won the conference championship and varsity girls were placed second. Frosh/soph girls have won the league for the “sixth year in a row” as said by Coach Celestin in the race recap email. Boys frosh/soph won for the second year in a row as well as boys varsity. Lastly, boys and girls JV both won championships titles for the third year in a row. Both varsity teams will be competing at CIF in Riverside on November 10!

The training that started in July and went on for almost four months really payed off. The last race may have been the best for most of the runners. Some people were sick and still made the effort to push through and run the three mile race. Some people were not pleased that the race was held after school, some students may not have had the best day and still had to run a three mile course, and most were able to do it with great pride and have a good placing for Los Alamitos.

Now runners are moving on to their next sport, unless they are doing second semester cross country to prepare for the next season. All runners will come back together in May to begin training as a team for the 2019 racing season
