When listening to the morning announcements this week, you have probably heard Jacob Ferrufino, a senior, talking about the showing of his Winter Formal video on the morning announcements. What you might not realize is the amount of work that goes into the process. Jacob first got into videography last year when he watched a video about traveling by Sam Kolder, who makes videos on YouTube.

When asked who inspires him the most, Jacob said, “The one person who inspires me the most is definitely the one who inspired me to start in the first place: Sam Kolder. He never fails to amaze me with each new video and his mastery of storytelling and his editing leaves me shocked in amazement after any one of his videos. That’s what I strive to be one day.”

Jacob works extremely hard on his videos, and he truly enjoys it. On his video for formal, which is the video he is the most proud of, he spent thirty-five hours in total working on it.

Jacob sees himself owning his own videography studio in ten years, and working for travel companies, touring with DJ’s, and creating charity videos promoting awareness to save the destruction or harm of animals or nature. His favorite thing about the campus is the people, since everyone he has met through his year of videography has supported him. During his time as a videographer, Jacob has concluded that the best part for him about it is, “Laying back after a good twelve hours editing, and watching the piece I create from start to finish. On top of that, I love how happy people are when they watch my videos.” Jacob will be spending his last year at Los Al continuing to create and enjoying the art of videography.
