They’ve done it again. For the second year in a row and third time in nine years, Los Alamitos’s very own Xtreme has successfully gone undefeated throughout their entire competition season. Through rigorous training, these talented students have dominated the opposition, winning first place at Burbank, Hart, and Burroughs High Schools with their “Nerd Love” set.

If you didn’t get to experience it, this set revolves around a group of geeky individuals who want more than anything to be loved, eventually finding it through their suave friend Tom Jones, portrayed by Tommy Olaes. With Jones’s swagger on their side, the dorky dancers eventually choose a member of the audience to join them, fulfilling their lust for affection. And as far as choir competition sets go, it doesn’t get any better than this. Seeing the interactions between Tom Jones and the lead nerd was hilarious, and overall was an insanely fun experience.

But with more than three high schools suffering defeat, they are sure to work even harder next year to try and defeat Xtreme, which means Xtreme themselves must up their game also. Though it seems that nobody is worried. Xtreme has won a reputation as being one of the greatest men’s show choir’s in the nation, and it shows. Though others may try to defeat them, they are a force to be reckoned with. Their abilities as performers are on par with Michael Jackson, and their teamwork as a group rivals that of the Avengers. And with the Pops Show quickly approaching, Xtreme is sure to impress us even more with their fabulous abilities. And  as the last show for the class of 2017, there are sure to be tears in the eyes of everyone, as the seniors perform for the final time and pass on their legacies as the students who led Xtreme to victory two years in a row.
