The statement should not have to be that it is time to introduce more safety procedures regarding protection from school-shootings. Unfortunately, it does, for the occurrence has merely not been a bug that has died out as years continue. In fact, it has risen in amount and frequency, and further precautions should be made to ready students themselves when it comes to a deadly intruder fouling their campus.
I believe that each period should have a debrief on their plan of escape or defense. Although some of my classes have gone over the procedure of what we will do in case we find ourselves in the horrid position, I think it should be standard for every teacher to go over the concept with every single one of their classes. Maybe most teachers have, but I think it should be a standard implemented within schools in America.
We don’t want to face the reality that more slaughter could occur, though if we don’t, it may occur on an even grander scale without the necessary preparation against it. Hopefully we find a way to cease the violent activity that has grown across America, though until then, it’s important not only teachers are prepared, but students too.
Some classrooms contain doors and windows of unfortunate positioning, while others find that the location they are in is very near to an exit- a curse, and a blessing, considering how easy it would be to flee yet how vulnerable they are an intruder walking straight to them. Each classroom has its own unique situation, and it is important such notions are addressed.
We can only hope the killings become less frequent.
