The baseball world has received some rather important news lately about big free agents getting signed, and also about some other big free agents who still haven’t found a new home. On Thursday, November 28th, 2019, free agent catcher Yasmani Grandal signed a 4-year 73 million dollar contract with the Chicago White Sox. Now this may be a surprise to some people because the two time all star is a great player, and a team that hasn’t see the playoffs since 2008. No one expected them to make such a big move for a new catcher. Also, they resigned three time all-star Jose Abreu to a 3-year 50 million dollar deal. The Sox are making big moves, and who knows what they will do next. The Miami Marlins also made a trade on Monday, December 2nd, 2019 for Jonathan Villar, who has had some alright seasons in the past The Marlins needed him badly. The Cincinnati Reds also made a big trade which resulted in them acquiring Mike Moustakas, third basemen. He signed a 4-year 64 million dollar deal. But most teams still have a chance to score a big name player. Gerrit Cole, being one of them, is expected to be headed west to hopefully the Angels because starting pitching is something they need greatly. The Yankees have started to look at him again, but should give up because, in my opinion, Cole is headed west. Stephen Strausberg has also not signed with a team. He was recently named the World Series MVP. Not much has been said about him, but he has been said to be going to the Padres or Dodgers. Another big free agent is Anthony Rendon. It has been said that he could go to the Dodgers even though they really do not need him. But others think that he will arrive in Texas to join the Rangers who are in need of a third basemen after Hall-of-Famer Adrian Beltre retired after the 2018 season. There are still plenty of good players on the market for teams to get, but some unexpected teams have made big trades to hopefully do well in the upcoming 2020 season.
