A Potential Mookie Betts Trade

Where will Mookie Betts next stop be?

Mookie Betts, All-Star outfielder, is about to get traded, but to where.

Most of the talk surrounding the baseball community are trade talks involving super star outfielder, Mookie Betts. The trade is expected to happen soon, and the potential teams Betts could end up on are the San Diego Padres and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Betts is currently the Boston Red Sox’s right fielder, but why are the Red Sox planning to trade their best player? The Red Sox have not had the best off-season because they lost their manager, Alex Cora. This is because he was part of the Astros cheating scandal in 2017. Also, their “best” pitcher, Chris Sale, had an extremely pathetic 2019 season. He had his worst career season with a 4.40 ERA, 6-11 win/loss, and he did not play the rest of the season due to an elbow injury. The Red Sox are not looking too good, and they are about to get rid of their best player. Betts rejected a 200 million dollar deal from the Red Sox, which is maybe signaling that he is done with Boston.
The San Diego Padres are one of the teams that are pursuing Betts. The Padres have been sneaky this off season, signing All-Star Tommy Pham, Jurikson Profar, and Drew Pomeranz, which are all good moves. If the Padres acquire Betts, it would be awesome! The Padres would maybe have a chance at making the playoffs. They would be kind of stacked with Manny Machado, Fernado Tatis Jr, Tommy Pham, and Mookie Betts, and they would be unstoppable.
But if the Dodgers acquire Betts, then the Dodgers will be even better than before. They would have Cody Bellinger, Justin Turner, Max Muncy, Corey Seager, and Betts, which would be completely unfair. The Padres need Betts way more than the Dodgers. So if the Padres can sign Betts to a deal he is wanting or willing to accept, then the Padres might become one of the better teams. One trade package that could happen would be that the Dodgers send catcher, Keibert Ruiz, to Boston in exchange for Betts and David Price. That does not sound like a good trade, but it is still a potential package. A potential Padres package could send Tommy Pham, Drew Pomeranz, Will Meyers, and CJ Abrams to Boston for Mookie Betts. That sounds good because even though the Padres will lose their biggest move they’ve made this off season, they’ll receive one of the greatest players to play the game of baseball. Hopefully, Betts makes the better decision to go play for the Padres and help them instead of the Dodgers.
